Vacation Week
Part 1-Jeremey and the kids traveled up to Orange City the end of June and spent some time with his parents. I joined them after a women's ministry retreat a couple days later. We enjoyed swimming, playing at the park, and spending time with the Heronemus side of the family.

Aaron's favorite part of swimming-snack time!

Aaron's second favorite part of the swimming trip-getting out!

Cool dude!

Grandma H's friend Miss Cindy braided Rebekah's hair and painted her fingernails (pink, of course) and toenails (purple with little flowers). Rebekah loved this time of pampering!

We visited Great Grandma H and she gave Aaron a little truck and Rebekah a ceramic tea set. Rebekah has been talking about wanting a tea set a lot, so she couldn't wait to use it!

Picture speaks for itself-Cousin Harvey's sandals, a bike helmet, and a swim noodle just because. And really, why not?!!
Part 2-We traveled to Okoboji to spend the second part of our vacation with the Smidt side. We went fishing, went to Arnold's Park, played on/in the lake, and did a lot of other outside activities. On the rainy July 3 evening, we ventured out to watch the fireworks from Big Spirit, but apparently they were canceled. I don't know why they let a little rain spoil their event-we made a good (and very wet) memory! Of course, we watched the fireworks from the boat on West Lake the night of July 4.

Rebekah's very proud of her first catch-and so is Grandpa Cy!

Aaron's looking very casual with his arm up on the seat. It's hard to tell, but his right hand has a death grip on Rebekah's left arm. It was very funny to see him do this, as he normally enjoys this ride!

There's two more monkeys now-not just see no evil, hear no evil speak no evil. There's also taste no evil (Rebekah) and sit by no evil (Aaron).

Rebekah asked to go on the little roller coaster-she was totally terrified and her first ride, the attendant stopped it after a couple trips around because he heard her say "Stop please". We went back later that night, and she asked to do it again and rode with another little girl. She seemed to be a little more relaxed the second time, although I don't believe there were any smiles yet. Maybe next time!

Going up in the ferris wheel! We went at night, and it was beautiful to see the lake from that high as the sun was going down.

Rebekah's first ride on the tube.

Aaron's first ride on the tube. Funny thing from Aaron: anytime a horn honked (or the train rang its bell at Arnold's Park), he would wave. Note the wave in the picture-not because of the camera, but because of the horn honking.

Grandma Cy and his chalk version (and real version) of Rebekah.

Cousin Megan, Aaron, Rebekah, and Cousin Caleb all ready for the boat!

This was the craziest thing! We were on the boat, and we saw this guy throw a big, wooden disc into the water and then a bar stool, then he jumped in. The boat started going and he stood on the disc, then put the bar stool on top and climbed up on the bar stool. So, he was skiing standing on the bar stool which was on top of the wooden disc. Don't ask me why, but needless to say, he had quite the audience! (If you can't see the picture very well, click on it and it will open much larger so you can see better.)
