Monkeying Around
We traveled up to Okoboji for Memorial Day weekend and had a great time monkeying around! We had our inaugural boat ride and did lots of lake activities-jet ski rides, paddle boat ride, and fishing. We had a bonfire with s'mores and got to play with Grandma H. on Saturday night.

Rebekah liked to touch the minnows Grandpa Cy got for fishing. It was a game for the grandkids to put their hands in the container and try to touch or even hold one of them. Grandpa Cy fished with the oldest three off the dock and took them out on Monday morning for a fishing trip, just the four of them. No fish were caught, but memories were definitely made.

What trip would be complete without a trip to the Emergency Room?! Yes, that's right-on Sunday morning we headed over to the ER in Spirit Lake with Rebekah. She had been standing in the window sill (about 12" off the floor) looking for my dad outside when she fell off, hitting her chin on a decorative weather vane. No stiches were needed, but they did use skin glue to help it stay together while it healed. That is all off now, and we're waiting for it to completely heal to see if she'll be left with a scar to remind her of Memorial Day '09!

On Sunday afternoon, we boated over to Arnold's Park for some ice cream. Always a great tradition to pass on to the kids! After that, Rebekah and cousins Megan & Caleb went into the amusement park and went on some rides. Rebekah went on her very first Ferris Wheel ride, and this was no little kids ride-it was a big one, and she did great. She is much more brave this year than she was last year.
