Happy Anniversary!
Jeremey and I celebrated our anniversary early by going to Playa del Carmen, Mexico in early May. We had a wonderful time relaxing together and reconnecting. Here's a few pictures, although it was hard to narrow down since we took almost 700 pictures!Ocean Maya
We stayed at a beautiful resort called Ocean Maya. After we checked in, we found they had upgraded our room to a villa that was right on the beach. Just gorgeous!

Our first full day in Mexico was Mother's Day. I got to celebrate by taking a nap in a hammock and enjoying the ocean and sand!Chichen Itza
We drove to Chichen Itza, some Mayan ruins on the Yucatan Peninsula. It is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. We enjoyed walking around the ancient city and marveling at the structures.

El Castillo, one of the more famous structures on the siteOn Tuesday, we took a catamaran ride to Isla Mujeres. We sailed out from Cancun, and went off shore a ways and then jumped into the water and snorkeled a reef. We got back on our boat and sailed over to the coast of Isla Mujeres, where we had the opportunity to go on a spinnaker ride. We jumped into the water and swam over to a towel that had been tied to a rope. This was hooked onto the large sail, which brought us out of the water and into the air. When our ride was over, they let us down to a couple feet above the water and we let go of the towel "seat." It was a great way to enjoy the beautiful scenery!

On the deck of the catamaran "Samba 2"We then went to lunch at a private beach and had an hour of shopping and touring around the island. We got back on the boat and slowly sailed back to Cancun. This was our favorite activity of the vacation.
Xcaret
Wednesday we went to an eco park called Xcaret. There were performances, exhibits, snorkeling, a snuba area, and a huge night show, among other activities. We spent the day swimming through the underground rivers, snorkeling, and watching performances. We were impressed with the night show that depicted the history of the Mexican culture.

We kind of stumbled upon this performance of a Pre-Hispanic Dance while we were walking through the park. We heard beating drums, and Jeremey said "It's always a good idea to follow the beating drums." So we did, and we watched this really neat show. Always good advice to follow the beating drums!

Standing in front of the main temple at TulumOur last day in Mexico, we went to Xplor, an adventure park just south of Playa del Carmen. We went on zip lines (awesome!), rode amphibious vehicles, swam through a stalactite river, and went rafting through a river with underground rock formations. It was fun to end our trip with activities that were so different.

Because of the activities of the park and the risk for injury, we were required to wear helmets the whole time we were there. This was one of our favorite signs.This trip was a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. We are so thankful to be celebrating 10 years of marriage together!
